One of these days I will quit doubting the power of a wish.  When we started the 11th Have-A-Heart Wishathon, I was worried about the outcome given the recent ice storm and the news of our economy.  Who am I to doubt the power of a wish, and the giving nature of Fox Country?

We came out of the gate strong.  Early in the morning the phones and roadblocks were hot with giving.  And, by the end of the day, the accountants had counted over $208,000 in cash and pledges.  By the time they’re through counting, the total will exceed $220,000.  That’s over $30,000 more than we’ve ever collected before.  Wow.

$220,000 will allow Make-A-Wish to grant about 44 wishes in the next year.  We all know what a wish does for a child and his or her family dealing with the difficulties of a life threatening condition.

Fox Country, we love you and appreciate you.  And, so do the kids.

A special thanks to all of the incredible volunteers who worked the event, volunteering in many ways from standing in the middle of the road at road blocks, ushering wish kids and donors around the radio stations, organizing food efforts for volunteers, counting and tabulating, etc.  Without the volunteers and their passion for the kids, this event doesn’t happen.  Thanks to the businesses who provided food and so many other things necessary to make the event happen.

Fox Country is Make-A-Wish country.  I am sorry there are so many children dealing with life threatening issues.  But, I’m thankful that Make-A-Wish is there to make those times a little easier for the kids and their families.

Thanks Fox Country!
